PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR WORK

Many artists cannot afford to have their work professionally photographed. We recommend the following tips...

  • Photographing in natural light is a good start. Indirect light is best, without the sun glaring down, to avoid casting shadows over your work. A steady hand may work in place of a tripod.

  • Cell phones these days have great lenses which allow you to take decent images of your work - provided lighting, alignment and focus are good. Don’t be afraid to ask a friend for a help if you don’t feel confident photographing your work!

  • Google ‘photographing artwork’ and you'll find numerous articles and YouTube videos with tips on how to best capture your work.
